2015 Subaru WRX Foreign Test Report
Now that the campaign launch BRZ is something past, Subaru returns to its fundamentals. Full sedan, the WRX (do not call Impreza) reappears armed with a new engine and a reworked transmission.
But first look side. With its sleek profile, the electric blue WRX (the cons) concept introduced this year in New York we had rather put the mouth water. Unfortunately, in his livery serial WRX retains any online too, finally closer to an evolution of the old WRX than a real variation of the 4-door coupe concept unveiled earlier this year. Admittedly, the Subaru sedan has never shone by its beauty, so we can easily forgive him but if it manages to (re) become as effective and exciting as the Impreza that was there a few years ago the heyday of Subaru world championship rallies.
For this, we will now have its levers of a new engine. Exit block 2.5, replaced by a flat-four 2.0 turbo 268 hp and 350 Nm (we do not yet know if the engine is 1998 cc version of the BRZ supercharged). However, this is the American configuration announced at this Los Angeles Auto Show. In Europe, the figures may therefore be somewhat different. For us, the old WRX STI had remembered the 300 hp and 407 Nm
Side transmission, manual 6-speed gearbox is announced alongside a CVT continuously variable unit, more lazy and greedy. But the real novelty is the introduction of a system associated with torque vectoring all-wheel drive, which should boost the agility of the car despite the wheelbase 25 mm. We were also promised a firmer suspension (property), bigger brakes, a reworked suspension, and not unimportant, more rigid and light structure. A rather enticing program. Just have to wait until submission of the European model.
