About the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet (Convertible)

Longer, lower, wider. Lighter, faster, more efficient. No matter how much the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera Cabriolet evolve, they remain the essence of Porsche. Two integral air intakes along with standard Bi-Xenon headlights define the face of the 911 Carrera models. And on the 911 Carrera Cabriolet, the top is lighter, taughter, and truer to the shape of the Coupe. Beneath the surface, a composite architecture of aluminum and steel resulted in a 911 that is lighter yet stronger. Nearly 100 pounds lighter than its predecessor, its torsional rigidity is 25 percent greater. Engine fed by direct injection help create impressive power-to-weight ratios. The 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera Cabriolet are powered by a 3.4-liter engine that, while smaller in displacement than its predecessor, generates more power and faster acceleration. Rated at 350 horsepower, the flat six produces 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds (Coupe) when equipped with the optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission and Sport Plus. The Cabriolet equipped with the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission and Sport Plus boasts 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. PDK now includes a coasting function, eliminating engine braking in certain conditions for even greater fuel efficiency.

VarioCam Plus optimizes power and torque across the rpm range. Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) ensures peak combustion efficiency. The standard Auto Start Stop function conserves fuel. And Porsche’s first-ever seven-speed manual transmission precisely manages engine power for improved fuel economy. Lowering the Coupe’s roofline helped achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.29. A wider extendale rear spoiler created more downforce, for more responsive cornering. The Porsche Dynamic Lighting System (PDLS) – with dynamic cornering lights, speed-sensitive headlight range control, and a headlight-cleaning system – is available as an option.

Standard on the 911 Carrera are 19-inch wheels, an increase of one inch compared with the previous generation, that translates into improved comfort and performance.
