The QX80 Luxury SUV
Check out the impressive QX80 which is the flagship when it comes to Luxury SUVs. This beast has been redesigned from the chassis up. The amount of technology and features abound in this vehicle but the beginning MSRP is barely a hair over the previous generation at $62,000. The new QX80 also has more power while getting a 10% bump in fuel economy over the previous model. Does Infiniti believe there is a market for the Full Sixed SUV in today’s economy? The answer is yes, and the proof is in the pudding since Infiniti Dealers have been selling out of the current model QX80.The very first thing you notice about the new Infiniti QX80 is the redesigned and sculptured look. The last generation full sized QX56 had a basic, boxy look. Well hold onto your pants because the new QX80 looks more like it little brother; the QX70. Out front the fenders and hood hold wonderful contours which enhance the new xenon headlights. There are 20 inch rims that are standard and massive 22 inch aluminum rims with the Deluxe touring Package.

Power has been increased over 25% over the previous generations 320 horsepower, and now stands at 400. This power is produced via a 5.6 liter V-8 engine that can push out 413 lb-ft of torque which is enough to tow up to 8500 pounds. New technology abounds in the QX56’s engine and some of these upgrades include VVEL which means the Valves are Variably Controlled Electronically, and Direct Injection. There is also a slick 7-speed automatic transmission. These equate to a 10% bump in fuel economy. The Infiniti QX80 should see over 13 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway. Not bad for a full sized SUV. In comparison the Cadillac Escalade hybrid gets about the same fuel economy but costs many thousands more. The fuel tank can hold 28 gallons of gas and the full sized SUV can go up to 253 miles between fill-ups.

On the inside the QX80 can seat 7 or 8 passengers depending on the configuration. And Infiniti says that the second row seat room is the best in class. In fact the second row seats are like nice recliner chair. There is also a center console in the rear. The QX80 has plenty of televisions, air-vents, and room for all passengers. The TV’s are 7-inch screens set in the back of the head rests. The interior is covered in ultra luxurious leather. Even with all these standard items, the QX80 is 100 pounds lighter than the previous generation.

The QX80 has some really cutting edge features and options. One innovative and new to Infiniti advancement is the Hydraulic Body Motion Control System. This system will limit the amount of body roll by up to 40% when the large SUV is cornering. This system works by moving fluid from one dampener to another to keep the vehicle steady. In fact this system makes the QX80 more stable in terms of body roll than the BMW 5-Series.

Safety is key as first the QX80 has the option of full-time 4-wheel drive with traction control. The traction control system can split the torque between the wheels in order to send more power to the wheels that need it. Infiniti has layered multiple sets of overlapping technologies to keep people safe. On the inside the QX80 has a myriad of front and curtain side airbags for all passengers, even those seated in the rear of the SUV. The Intelligent Brakes can automatically reduce speed if a collision is imminent. The lane departure system wars the driver if the vehicle begins to drift out of its lane. The intelligent cruise control adapts to follow the flow of traffic. The blind spot warning alerts the driver ensuring safe lane changes. The list goes on and on and you can have all these features for a base price of $62,000 which is why a lower lease rate is more attractive.
