About the BMW 428i

Watch out for the new BMW 4 series. Novelty and Style is introduced in the Bavarian manufacturer Industry: With the Newly designed Series 4! Check out instantly on the trunk with the logo, we do have a 428i. We’ll have to get used to because, besides that, there is a 3 series coupé, formerly known. 3 Series coupé. I asked why this new nomenclature, BMW said that now the pleasure’s cars take even numbers: example with the Series 4, therefore, the 6 Series, but the X6 or Z4. Which act: to all those who have a Series 3 or 5 or 7, you have a rather rational BMW car as criteria.

Taking you back to our 328i coupe, sorry, 428i. We recognize of course a 3 series but in fact, all body parts except the hood are different. The shield is specific and is observed on the wing before the appearance of a small hearing called air breather, which complements the air curtain, this system reduces the aerodynamic perturbations around the wheel. Series 4 is as long and wide as the 3 series to 1 cm, but lower than 7 cm: it rises to 1.36 m at the shoulder and sees a silhouette generally quite slender.

Inside on the other hand, there was significantly less difference. The dashboard is basically the same as the 3 Series. The differences come from the black lacquered veneer on the center console or this red line against the door, because our car is in Sport trim. We also note that small arms causing the belt, always nice … And the driving position is lower than in the sedan. The driver is more elongated. Apart from that, there are environmental 3 series with e.g. head or the mode of conduct display from Eco Sport + through comfort, or the new Drive with touch pad. The quality of presentation is impeccable.

At the rear, there are only two places. Access course requires a bit of flexibility, but once installed; passengers are at least in knee space for the headroom is a bit tight. The chest reaches 445 dm3, almost as much as the most direct competitor, the Audi A5 and 455 dm3. 40/20/40 the modularity is unique revenge on a coupe.

Under the hood, the Series 4 courses take blocks of the 3 Series, but only the most powerful. There will, 420i and 420d of example but not 418i or 418d, at least for the moment. We are entitled to 28i, the 4-cylinder 2-liter turbo 245 hp, combined with the 8-speed auto. Most versions are available in 2 or 4 wheel drive However; if you take full BMW will impose the automatic gearbox. Go!

Voice embedded “aboard this 328i, uh, sorry, this 428i … I must say that there is something wrong! This, therefore, 428i use a 2-liter turbo that reaches 245 hp. This replaces the 6 cylinder 3 liter of 30i. Then of course some will say that we have not the nobility of 6 cylinders, but the engine is more efficient and simple. There is just a mundane sound. However, BMW still worked well and support the 28i makes a pretty nice sound. ”

Less noble perhaps, but the performance is there: we go from 0 to 100 in less than 6 seconds. The engine is very comfortable to low speeds and grows without falter until 6500 rpm. Failing to be explosive, it provides a constant thrust.
Embedded Voice: “Our 428i has the right to self-8-speed. It is fast, smooth, well managed, there is, frankly, not much to criticize, to the point that you recommend in relation to the gearbox.

Side behavior, our 428i with 19-inch wheels and driven suspensions has proven versatile. In comfort mode, it remains relatively considerate. Sport or Sport + mode, the car takes little roll and becomes quite dynamic, benefiting from a center of gravity lower than that of the sedan. The car is very balanced, thank you weight distribution 50/50, and enjoy a specific front end associated with a communicative direction. The rear suspension contributes to the movement but without overflowing. In short, it’s nice, efficient and easy.

However, all this comes at a price: our car costs € 50,000 with the automatic gearbox, excluding option. And options, of course, there are plenty. This is very nearly the same rate as the Audi A5 TFSI 225 hp, more sober but less efficient. In short, we are in the premium … Series 4 will be the least expensive 420i 184 hp to € 38,800 in a base price.

Accuracy: besides an excellent auto box, we also recommend the controlled suspension, which allows the Series 4 have two more comfortable or dynamic as you wish every-day cars one. It’s still 1150 more. However, hey, at this price, we will not quibble.
