Payment Breakdown: BMW is offering a great lease on the 2014 320i with Premium Package (features include Moonroof, Comfort Access, Satellite Radio, iPod/USB Adapter, Hands-free Bluetooth and Destination charges). For only $279 per month you can drive off in a Luxury car. The lease is for 3 years and 3 months (39months) and over that span you will pay $10,881 in lease payments plus a $2,750 down payment and a $725 Acquisition fee for a total cost of $14,356 (This figure includes a $500 holiday credit and $500 Loyalty Cash which not everyone will qualify). That is pretty great as you really are only paying $4,417 per year to drive a $36,875 luxury sedan.

Mileage: With this 2014 BMW 320i lease you are granted a total of 32,500 miles over the life of the lease. After that the charge is $0.20 per mile. So even if you drove 1000 miles over that would still only cost you an extra $200.

End of Lease: Once your lease is up BMW is offering the option to purchase the ILX after the 39 months. The cost at lease end is $23,600 bringing the total paid to $37,956 if you decide to keep the car. The MSRP of a new 2014 BMW 320i with Premium Package is $36,875 so it would seem like the lease is a good option.

BMW 320i Overview

While the BMW 320i is a new model here in the U.S. this little silky smooth running six-cylinder lived from 2000-2007 in Europe. But now we here in the U.S. get the 320i but no longer is this model a shining example of performance rather the new 320i is the cheapest BMW 3-series model focusing on attracting entry-level luxury consumers. The 320i also targets those looking for a fuel efficient compact luxury sedan as the 320i nets an impressive 24 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.

Engine

Despite a curb weight of more than 3295 lbs, the 320i accelerates briskly. Its turbocharged 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine makes 184 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque. Couple that with an 8-speed automatic and you get 0-60 MPH times in 7.6 seconds. The motor is acoustically mostly in the background, which is very pleasant on fast motorway stretches. The collaboration with the eight-speed automatic works very well: The changing of gears happens smoothly and imperceptibly.

Suspension and Ride Quality

This is indeed a 3-Series meaning the 320 shares the same chassis with the rest of the line including the M3 sports car. Thus the 320 is tight on the road and the suspension is sporty. The ride is still very luxurious even with the 18-inch wheels and low-profile tires. Comfort is still more than adequate and the chassis always gives the driver a certain amount of feedback, also this generation has received some of that charm which distinguishes the three since time immemorial. Together with the direct steering, the 320i is a real joy to drive around the curves.

Interior Thoughts

Being a compact sedan there is a limited amount of space on the inside. If you are looking for something that seats 4 adult passengers then maybe the 5-series is more your cup of tea. But the 320 is perfectly suited to drive you and a few passengers around for a short amount of time. The instruments can be easily read and there is a nice Navigation unit you can add for $2150. Even though there are a bunch of options, BMW did of great job of making the system easy to operate. Moving on to the sound system your ears are greeted by a wonderful Harman/Kardon system that rocks!

Overall Cost

While the MSRP price is pretty reasonable when it comes to entry-level luxury cars, the base price of $32,750 can really swell when you start adding on options and packages. That’s why when you lease a new 320i for under $300 per month you get a better deal that way.

Conclusion

The new 320i distances itself from some of the competition. Some highlights are the good fuel economy, perfect suspension tuning, and 8-speed automatic transmission. This entry level sports sedan is every bit a BMW. It is powered by a 180 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four, producing 200 lb-ft of torque from 1250 rpm. It is the same N20 engine that powers the 328i (a direct-injected, four-cylinder force-fed by a single twin-scroll turbocharger). The 320i can be ordered with a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic, or a short-throw six-speed manual. Rear-wheel drive is standard, the all-wheel drive is an additional $2,000.
