About the Audi A6 3.0T
New Exterior Design

Introducing the next generation Audi A6 which is known internally as model C7 as this is the 7th generation. The original Audi 100 first appeared in 1968 so this upscale luxury car has been around for some time now. As usual with Audi, the transition from one generation to the next is not a revolution, rather a gentle evolution: the A6 visually similar to the previous one, even if it is completely new. The newcomer is slightly shorter (less than 1 cm), but wider, and wheelbase was lengthened. The front has been “pushed” forward, reducing the door-to-false and giving a more dynamic appearance. The headlights also look angry in the sedan and all versions are entitled to LED daytime running lights which is the signature Audi look.

High Class Luxury Interior

One of the strengths of Audi is the presentation and the quality interior. And with this luxury sedan, Audi has tried to remain faithful to its image as one of the best luxury manufacturers in the world. Plastics, wood, aluminum inserts are flattering, and you will notice that the dashboard is a bit more oriented towards the driver, in the manner of BMW. Another strong point is the available equipment and technological features showcased in this mid-sized sedan. These include the night vision system, adaptive lights, and WiFi hotspot that turns your car into an internet hub. But the most spectacular is probably the GPS mapping based on Google Earth, which provides the ability to see in 3D on the screen that you see in real life on the road. All on a retractable screen that is the most the most successful example on the market today.

Plenty of Passenger Room

The rear seats have increased legroom for the comfort of the passengers. You’ll notice the optional possibility to obtain a 4-zone air conditioning, and quality of finish, still remarkable even in the rear seats. The Prestige Model can be had with Ventilated front seats. Out back the trunk has plenty of space for luggage or golf clubs. Of course this Audi A6 is smaller than the A8 but also more reasonably priced.

Powerful and Fuel Efficient Engines

At the front, the new A6 welcomes a couple of engine options. The first engine is the smaller more fuel efficient turbocharged 2.0 liter 4-cylinder. This engine is the bread and butter of the Audi/Volkswagen Family. Power output is 2001 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque with fuel economy figures of 20 MPG city and 30 MPG highway. The larger more powerful engine is a supercharged 3.0 liter V-6 engine that makes 310 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of torque. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, fuel economy figures are good at 18 MPG city and 27 MPG highway. All engines now have a Stop & Start system which decreases their consumption.
Audi Drive Select
A small round setting before starting the car via the Car / MMI setup. We discover a new way “Efficiency”, which optimizes consumption by changing the engine mapping, the laws of gearshifts with automatic boxes, and other refinements such as thermal management streams. This method is part of the Efficiency Audi Drive Select series. In contrast, controlled suspension is an option and is a plus in terms of comfort.

Comfortable Ride

Very quickly we begin to appreciate the comfort level of suspension in the mode of the same name, backed by excellent soundproofing. Multitronic box is still confusing at first, without gear change as and measuring acceleration as a scooter. But with this sound and the couple keeps low and midrange is rather pleasant. Note still some quirks when slowing down or at low speed, the engine remained abnormally high. On small road, we appreciate the precise steering and well dosed assistance. Despite the sometimes wet floor, our two-wheel drive A6 going very well the power to the ground, causing not only a few mountain torque in the steering wheel. Behavior issue, the car seemed to us remarkable stability at high speeds to support.

Expensive So Lease

Finally let’s get down to the cost. The new A6 starts at $44,400 with the 2.0 engine and can top out at over $50k and that is before you start adding on more expensive components and packages. At that price, the equipment you get standard is nice since you get dual zone automatic air conditioning, an upscale radio, Bluetooth and a lot of automation. The main competitors of the Audi A6 are the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class which are even still a bit more expensive. The all new A6 has made great progress in terms of fuel consumption with luxury and comfort also being placed at the forefront. You pay a lot, yes, but you have the best performance in several areas. Better to lease and Audi A6.
